From Racing Stripes to Upcycled Garments: Pentagram x Deus Ex Machina at London Design Festival

The power of design is sometimes hidden in a bold stripe on an iconic car, and sometimes in the seams of a singular vintage jacket. Opening its doors from September 12 to 20, 2026, as part of the London Design Festival (LDF 2026), the Pentagram x Deus Ex Machina exhibition brings together Pentagram—the legendary bastion of graphic and industrial design—and Deus Ex Machina, which blends motorcycle, surf, and street culture with art, under the very same roof.

Hosted at Osh Gallery (The Old Sorting House) in Islington and free to visit without tickets, the exhibition features at its very center an original 1965 Mini Cooper S race car, highlighted by a custom graphic livery designed by Pentagram partner Matt Willey for Deus. Alongside this retro track legend, a brand-new product collection co-developed by Matt Willey, Pentagram industrial designer Piotr Woronkowicz, and the Deus team makes its debut.

Renowned for blurring interdisciplinary boundaries, Deus Ex Machina has also reinterpreted a curated selection of vintage garments for this collaboration. Upcycled into singular, one-of-a-kind pieces, these clothes are presented exclusively at Osh Gallery for collectors and enthusiasts throughout the festival. Shaped by a passion for creating durable, long-lasting, and timeless objects, this collaboration showcases one of the most dynamic contemporary examples of craft and making culture.
