Human existence on earth resembles an uncanny construction site that is constantly demolished and rebuilt, rather than a completed and smooth structure. Pg Art Gallery is hosting the final and most mature installment of Metin Ertürk’s exhibition trilogy centering on existential cycles, chasing precisely this striking and inevitable transformation: “Süreç: Ham & Löv.”
Opening its doors on June 27 and continuing until July 25, 2026, this exhibition invites the viewer to a radical internal confrontation stretching from rawness to maturity, from fragmentation to reconstruction. Challenging the result-oriented and rapidly consumed structure of the contemporary art market, the artist turns his focus away from the destination and toward the journey itself—the painful and raw aesthetic of transformation.
A Physical Map of Internal Dissolution
The moment one steps into the exhibition hall, the space itself transforms into a physical map of this internal dissolution and layering. Massive metal structures hanging from the ceiling and the forms shaped upon them hang in the middle of the room like a material residue of the emotions, thoughts, and ruptures left behind in the human soul after lived experiences.
Instead of presenting sterile wholes, Ertürk throws before us the raw traces of a self that is fragmented, battered, and trying to exist anew precisely because of these fractures. When the industrial coldness of the metal and the tension of lived experiences carried by the forms come together, the viewer, rather than consuming completed, ready-made stories, witnesses a live struggle for existence that has not yet concluded and is searching for its direction.
Seismographic Records of the Inner World
The surface works covering the walls of the gallery serve as an almost seismographic record of the attitudes, hidden conflicts, and moments of rupture where the individual collides within their own inner world and among societal cogs. These works are not fixed, frozen archival documents pulled from the dusty shelves of the past; on the contrary, they breathe on the wall as living layers of memory that constantly change meaning with the flow of time and are reinterpreted through the viewer’s gaze.
Pushing the boundaries of material and texture, Ertürk makes visible how memories change form in our minds, how they scar over time, or how they bleed again, through the rigid and permeable language of surfaces.
