Music Discovery of the Day: Blondshell’s New Single ‘Fur Elise’ and Upcoming Album ‘Violins’

Sometimes the most beautiful metaphor is hidden in that strange detail that seems as though it wouldn’t fit the setting at all. Sabrina Teitelbaum, whom we know as Blondshell, has released a fantastic single that makes you feel almost like you’re in the penultimate scene of a coming-of-age movie: “Fur Elise”. Winking at Beethoven’s famous piano composition with its title, the song transforms into a completely different humor and bittersweetness in Blondshell’s hands. Walking down the aisle to a track that no one would actually play at their wedding… Both the song’s humor and that sweet, heart-touching ache feed off this exact contradiction.

Sabrina explains this ironic situation with the words: “You try to figure out what your life should look like, what will play at your wedding, but you don’t know where to start. And you go and choose the most wrong song.” Drawing attention with its dynamic, rising-and-falling musical structure, “Fur Elise” brings together rhythmic guitar tones with warm basses and rich melodic arrangements opening into a panoramic sonic universe. Carrying this entire sea of sound is Sabrina’s pure, powerful, and soul-touching alto voice.

“Fur Elise” also serves as a fantastic harbinger for the artist’s fresh album “Violins”, set to be released on September 25, 2026, under Partisan Records. Comprising 11 tracks in total, the album questions finding one’s way through the uncertain lanes of adulthood, who we want to be, and how to get there without any guide in hand. Friendship, religion, body image, and the far-from-cool, long process of healing form the core of the album. Sabrina mentions that this time she leaned more heavily into imagery and visual storytelling rather than direct statements: “My main goal was to make songs that cut straight to the marrow.”
