Dublin-based indie outfit Pillow Queens return with an invigorating new single, “Kiss Kiss”.
Following the release of their 2024 album Name Your Sorrow, the group underwent a significant transformation. Continuing as a trio after the departure of drummer Rachel Lyons, they began reshaping their sound around drum machines and loops. Coming on the heels of last year’s single “Be A Big Girl,” this latest release succinctly captures the band’s sonic metamorphosis and their new era of musical identity.
To clarify from the outset, the track bears no relation to Chris Brown’s ubiquitous pop hit of the same name. On the contrary, Pillow Queens forge a compelling contrast here, pairing their signature gritty, textured guitars with shimmering keyboard melodies.
Reflecting on the track’s emotional core, the band evoke a sense of unchecked, searing passion: casting logic aside to dive headlong into turmoil, surrendering to love with a carefree it’ll all sort itself out embrace of risk. It captures a dreamlike yet deeply volatile state of mind—one that insists the fleeting high is worth whatever consequences may follow.
Released via Royal Mountain Records alongside an accompanying music video, “Kiss Kiss” offers a captivating entry point into the band’s deliciously chaotic world.
