August 21, 20252 min read

The Royal Ballet and Opera (RB&O) has revealed an extensive lineup of accessible performances for its 2025/26 season, reaffirming its dedication to making world-class ballet and opera available to all. This season includes a variety of accessible options, such as British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted, captioned, audio-described performances, and touch tours.

Among the exciting highlights of the season are several engaging productions. The Royal Ballet will present Jonathan Watkin’s A Single Man, a modern ballet inspired by Christopher Isherwood’s novel, with performances scheduled for mid-September. Additionally, Christopher Wheeldon’s Like Water for Chocolate will make a return in October, featuring live audio description and a touch tour on the 4th and 24th. For a festive experience, Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker will offer accessible performances in late November and December.

On the opera front, Puccini’s cherished Tosca will feature multiple accessible performances in October. Handel’s Giustino, a seldom-seen gem of the operatic repertoire, will enjoy its first professional staging in the UK since 1737, with BSL and captioned performances also set for October. Other significant productions include Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Verdi’s Rigoletto.

The RB&O is also reviving critically acclaimed works, such as Oliver Leith’s Last Days, an opera reflecting on the final days of Kurt Cobain, along with Richard Eyre’s interpretation of La Traviata. The offerings for this season exemplify the RB&O’s commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all theatre enthusiasts.
