Michael Kiwanuka has announced the cancellation of all his upcoming performances, including several summer festival appearances, due to “continued illness.”
This update was shared on his official Instagram story. The artist had festivals lined up in August, such as Ireland’s All Together Now, Hungary’s Island Festival, Belgium’s Pukkelpop, and UK’s We Out Here and Victorious festivals. Additionally, he will not be joining Mumford & Sons for their North American tour in October.
In the statement, Kiwanuka expressed: “We regret to inform you that, on medical advice, Michael is unable to perform at the rest of this summer’s scheduled festivals and the North America shows, including the support tour with Mumford & Sons. This news is disheartening, and Michael is more disappointed than anyone.”
He concluded with gratitude: “Thank you all for your understanding.”
Kiwanuka’s latest album, Small Changes, was released in November. The music video for his single “One And Only” marks the directorial debut of Malia Obama, daughter of former President Barack Obama.
Recently, he also featured on the title track of Little Simz’s new album, Lotus, which came out last month.
