My Chemical Romance made waves at a recent concert in Los Angeles with the debut of an unreleased song, ‘War Beneath The Rain.’ Check out some fan-recorded footage of the performance below.
This past weekend (July 26), My Chemical Romance took the stage at the iconic Dodger Stadium as part of their ongoing ‘Long Live the Black Parade’ tour. Frontman Gerard Way and the band performed two sets, the first featuring a full rendition of ‘The Black Parade’ and the second packed with their greatest hits.
During the latter half of the show, the band surprised fans by performing a new song, ‘War Beneath The Rain.’ Before diving into the track, Way revealed that it was pulled from sessions for a scrapped album they worked on in 2012, just before the band’s initial hiatus. “This is one of our favorite songs from that time,” he shared. The family of the late producer Doug McKean, who was collaborating with them on the abandoned project, was present, and Way dedicated the song to them.
As My Chemical Romance continues their tour across North America, fans have speculated about the possibility of new music. Recently, the band announced a series of 2026 tour dates in Asia, along with a major concert in Mexico for the same year. They had also sparked curiosity with a cryptic Instagram post featuring an unusual image and a timestamp referencing the Seattle show date, alongside the caption: “A dagger, a dagger – please fetch me a dagger,” linking to updated lyrics from the song ‘Mama.’
Earlier this month in San Francisco, MCR surprised fans with a cover of the Smashing Pumpkins’ classic, ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings.’ This prompted a playful response from Billy Corgan, who shared memes about the resemblance between himself and Gerard Way, a comparison fans often joke about.
In their latest post, the band included a message for the MCR community: “For any MCR fans who may have come here from the cover of ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’ – yes, Billy is equally proud of his sons!”
