‘South Park’ Streaming Availability in the UK Comes to an End

July 16, 20252 min read

The animated series South Park is no longer accessible for streaming in the UK or anywhere outside the US due to ongoing disputes between the show and its broadcaster.

Recent tensions stem from a merger between Paramount (the show’s broadcaster) and Skydance, which is anticipated to finalize before October 4 following a couple of deadline extensions. This merger delayed the premiere of the show’s 27th season from July 9 to July 23. In light of this, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone voiced their concerns on the show’s official social media account, criticizing the merger’s impact on production.

On July 2, they tweeted, “In response to the press release from Comedy Central regarding South Park’s changed premiere date, we believe this merger is a mess and negatively affecting the show. We are currently working on new episodes and hope fans will eventually get to see them.”

There have been past reports about conflicts over streaming rights, with Parker and Stone even contemplating legal action against Paramount. They accused incoming president Jeff Shell of meddling in their contract discussions with Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources confirmed that Paramount+’s license to stream South Park internationally has expired, but negotiations are ongoing and the platform hopes to reinstate the series for its subscribers soon.

While the one-off specials of South Park remain available on Paramount+, new episodes will continue to air on Comedy Central in the UK.

A trailer for season 27 was released in April, showcasing storylines that include Diddy, Ketamine, and a fictional war between the US and Canada. Additionally, a live-action film collaboration between Kendrick Lamar and Parker and Stone has been postponed to 2026.
