British actor Nicholas Hoult takes on the role of Superman’s formidable rival, Lex Luthor, the CEO of LuthorCorp. The upcoming film will also feature a host of other DC superheroes, including Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan), a Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), and Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced).
Leicester Square transformed into a superhero haven as David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult electrified fans at a vibrant Superman fan event on July 2, 2025, ahead of the film’s July 11 UK release. Directed by James Gunn, the DC Universe reboot dazzled with a red carpet spectacle at Cineworld Leicester Square, where thousands cheered the cast, cosplayers donned capes, and a stunning 11ft Superman sculpture hovered above The Shard earlier that day. The event marked a high-flying stop on the film’s global promotional tour.
Corenswet, 31, who steps into the iconic role of Clark Kent/Superman, told reporters he embraced the chance to make the hero his own, saying, “I couldn’t mimic past performances, so I explored new sides of Superman for a fresh generation.” Brosnahan, starring as Lois Lane, gushed about deepening the beloved Clark-Lois romance, calling filming with Gunn “a blast.” Hoult, embodying the cunning Lex Luthor, praised Gunn’s vision, noting the villain’s complex motives. The trailer teases a bloodied Superman aided by his dog Krypto, alongside DC heroes like Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion).
Gunn, DC Studios co-chief, infused the film with his comic-book passion, reviving John Murphy’s soaring score and introducing Krypto. Fans on X are thrilled, with one calling Corenswet’s red bowtie look “a bold Clark Kent vibe,” while others hailed the trailer’s emotional depth. The Shard’s Superman statue, crafted over four months, stole the show, symbolizing the film’s grand ambition. Catch Superman in theaters and IMAX on July 11—will this reboot redefine the Man of Steel?
