BTS recently made an exciting announcement during a livestream, revealing their much-anticipated return in 2026.
Yesterday, the renowned K-pop group held a livestream on Weverse, marking the first time all seven members have appeared together onscreen since they began their mandatory military service, which led to a hiatus in 2022.
During the Weverse event, BTS confirmed reports from June about their upcoming music, stating they plan to release a new album in 2026. While they didn’t specify a March release date, they mentioned they would start working on the album together in the United States, aiming for a spring rollout.
The group shared, “We’ll be releasing a new BTS album in the spring of next year. Starting in July, all seven of us will collaborate closely on new music. As this will be a group album, it will encompass each member’s thoughts and ideas. We’re approaching the album with the same enthusiasm and mindset we had when we first started.”
In addition to the album, BTS hinted at an upcoming world tour to follow the album’s release, saying, “We’re also planning a world tour alongside the new album. We’ll be visiting fans around the globe, and we hope you’re as excited as we are.”
Since all seven members were discharged in June, they have also announced their first live album, set to be released later this month. This album will feature live tracks from their record-breaking ‘Permission to Dance on Stage’ tour from 2021 and 2022, along with a digital accompaniment that includes video footage from the tour’s final concert in Seoul.
BTS’s hiatus in 2022 allowed them to fulfill their military obligations and “explore some solo projects.” Recently, Jin released his second solo project, titled ‘Echo.’
Following his discharge, J-Hope hinted at the group’s reunion during an Apple Music 1 interview, sharing, “I look forward to June when our members will have completed their service. We will quickly get together and discuss what BTS can do in the future. I believe it’s going to be filled with massive energy.”
He also expressed his excitement in an interview with Weverse Magazine, saying, “When we’re all back as a group, it’s going to create a huge impact, and everyone will be watching. I can’t wait to see what it feels like when we perform together again. I want to come back in style and say, ‘This is us. This is BTS.’ I know the other members feel the same way.”
