Emily Alyn Lind stars in the psychological thriller series We Were Liars, based on E. Lockhart’s novel of the same name. The Amazon series follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman as she spends her summer on a secluded island with her affluent family and her tight-knit group of friends, known as the Liars.
The cast also features Esther McGregor, Joseph Zada, Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, Candice King, Rahul Kohli, David Morse, and Wendy Crewson. All eight episodes of the show premiered on June 18, 2025.
Is Season 2 of We Were Liars on the Horizon?
As of now, Amazon has not confirmed whether the series will return for a second season. The decision is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
There is, however, ample source material to explore further seasons. A prequel novel, Family of Liars, provides insight into the Sinclair family’s past. Additionally, E. Lockhart is set to release another book in the series titled We Fell Apart in November 2025.
What Has the Cast Said About a Potential Season 2?
Emily Alyn Lind, who portrays Cadence, hinted at possible storylines for a second season, particularly referencing her character’s involvement in the fire. She noted, “The interesting thing about families is that even if you leave, you carry your baggage with you… They always follow you in a way.”
She recalled a pivotal moment, saying, “Just before Cadence leaves, her grandfather, Harris, gives her an ultimatum: if she chooses not to stick with her family, he threatens to reveal what she did. At some point, she will likely have to confront that reality.”
