The Oscar-winning film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), directed by Ang Lee, is being adapted into a television series for Amazon’s Prime Video platform. The film, which earned four Academy Awards, achieved remarkable success. Now, Amazon and Sony are collaborating on a new TV adaptation set to captivate audiences. Jason Ning will serve as the writer and producer, while Ron Moore joins the project as an executive producer.
The series is based on Wang Dulu’s Crane-Iron Pentalogy, a five-book series published between 1938 and 1944, which also served as the source material for the film. It will follow the story of warriors Shu Lien and Mu Bai, exploring their forbidden love and their struggle to preserve traditional ways of life amidst the pressures of modernization. Backed by an extensive production team, the series aims to captivate audiences with stunning visuals and thrilling action sequences, much like the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon film.
