Mozart Resurfaced: ‘The Amadeus Mozart Hologram Musical Experience’

More than two centuries after his death, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart—who first sat at the keys in Salzburg at the age of five, penned his first symphony at eight, and packed over 600 immortal compositions into a life of just 35 years—re-emerges in a form that transcends physical presence. Set beneath the century-old stonework and Sistine Chapel-esque frescoes of Istanbul’s Beyoğlu Sahne, the timeless cadence of classical music converges with a novel optical staging.

Making its global debut, The Amadeus Mozart Hologram Musical Experience is far more than a dry biographical overview or a mere showcase of technological spectacle. Written and directed by Pouya Fayazi, the production interlocks three-dimensional holography and mixed-reality environments with the tactile immediacy of a live piano quintet. As suspended layers of light and digital imagery mingle with the warm acoustics radiating from the wooden bodies of violin and cello, the stage temporarily collapses into a dynamic canvas where 18th-century Vienna intersects with the composer’s inner psyche.

The performance gradually weaves a narrative tracing the prodigy’s early echoes in royal courts to the shadowed corners of his private life, bridging history-altering masterpieces with his deeply human core. Notes echoing against stone walls combine with a lighting design responsive to the live performance, transforming the audience from passive onlookers into active participants at the center of the story. Ink on the score breathes anew through airborne refractions of light.

Offering an opportunity to revisit iconic works of the classical repertoire in an atmosphere where past and future collide, The Amadeus Mozart Hologram Musical Experience takes place at Beyoğlu Sahne on 10, 18, and 24 October.
