The Garden Museum is hosting a new exhibition by Islington-based artist Melissa Scott-Miller that celebrates the capital’s precious parks and gardens. The exhibition “London Parks and Gardens”, which runs until 29 March 2026, can be visited free of charge in the museum’s courtyard section. With this exhibition, the artist takes visitors on a journey through the seasons and stories of London’s treasured green spaces.
Scott-Miller paints her works outdoors, meticulously transferring London’s urban landscape onto canvas. Produced while immersed in nature, among the public and sometimes facing harsh weather conditions, her works present a vivid portrait of city life. The new pieces created especially for the museum following a special invitation from the institution depict the buildings in Lambeth, the community garden and the museum’s courtyard under the autumn sun.
The selected works on display offer a wide range, from the artist’s own backyard to city streets, and from carefully curated public gardens to parks. The exhibition, realised in collaboration with Chris Beetles Gallery, also features works that are for sale. A portion of the proceeds from sales will be donated to support the Garden Museum’s charitable mission of preserving and celebrating garden art, history and design.
Alongside the exhibition, the artist continues to share her experiences with visitors through events such as the plant drawing workshop held at the museum on 21 March. This exhibition, where art and nature intertwine, can be seen until the end of March at the venue on Lambeth Palace Road as an aesthetic expression of admiration for the capital’s green fabric.
