Maintaining the same stubborn and uncompromising feeling on the same stage for ten years is no ordinary feat. DOCK 11 on Kastanienallee—one of the vibrant arteries of Prenzlauer Berg—is celebrating the tenth anniversary of a very special gathering this week: soundance festival berlin #10. Taking place between June 11 and 14, 2026, this festival does not craft a comfortable stage design that simply places dance and music side-by-side; on the contrary, it hurls the two disciplines on top of each other in the same room, living right inside that raw collision.
The festival’s opening solo, Schönheit ist Nebensache by Pol Pi, summarizes the backbone and intent of the entire event. Here, the goal is never to present the audience with something seamless or elegant. Aesthetics rest there merely as an accidental byproduct of that intense physical battle on stage; entirely different concerns and alternative physical tensions are brought to the center.
Each night of the festival is shaped by different partnerships that promise instantaneous flashes on stage that cannot be memorized in advance:
“Between an extroverted frenzy and a spiritual asceticism, temporary flowers of art bloom, belonging only to that exact moment.”
This sentence, constructed by the festival to define its own world, very honestly summarizes the contrasting energy inside the hall. Baroque tones collide with contemporary dance, the sediment of previous centuries comes alive in today’s sweating body, and when the curtain falls, only the fleeting memory of those seconds remains. Setting aside time in your calendar to witness this transient landscape starting at exactly 19:30 every evening in Prenzlauer Berg means touching the naked reality of sound and movement.
Key Artists: Pol Pi, Christine Saulut Bonansea, Axel Dörner, Maria Colusi, Edgardo Rudnitzky.
