A Magical Fairytale Under Green Lights: Trevor Yeung and “Jardin des Neuf Soleils” at Capc Bordeaux

If you happen to find yourself at Bordeaux’s mesmerizing architecture and its massive museum Capc—which transformed from an old colonial warehouse into the heart of contemporary art—a whole other universe awaits you inside these days. Talented Hong Kong artist Trevor Yeung draws everyone who steps into Capc’s imposing nave right into a green dream with his first museum exhibition in Europe, “Jardin des neuf soleils” (Garden of the Nine Suns).

Welcoming visitors since March 24 and running until September 20, 2026, this monumental installation transforms the historic stone texture of the space into a giant artificial landscape. The artist has turned the historic warehouse into a colossal “vivarium.” The moment you step inside, a mystical atmosphere dominated by green lights, double rainbows, mushroom-shaped light sources, and “mutant suns” inspired by Chinese mythology greet you.

On the Trail of an Ancient Fairytale: Garden of the Nine Suns

In this work, Trevor Yeung draws inspiration from the Chinese myth of the “ten suns.” According to legend, as ten suns appearing in the sky scorch the earth, nine of them are shot down with arrows. Rather than darkening the museum space, Yeung covers it entirely with a soothing, spellbinding green light, bringing those nine suns, the moon, and rainbows back to life through a dreamlike installation.

The sweet sounds of wind chimes and plays of light heard throughout the exhibition transform the space into not just an exhibition to be observed, but a fairytale experience area that you feel with your entire body and senses.

Terrace Evenings, DJ Sets, and Night Strolls

Capc has also prepared wonderful side events to celebrate this enchanting world of Trevor Yeung. For instance, today (Thursday, August 20), the museum hosts the “Terrasses nocturnes” event starting in the evening at 19:00. After exploring the magical green installation during the nighttime hours, you can head up to the museum’s rooftop to enjoy a drink and savor mezes against the Bordeaux skyline, accompanied by sets from local DJs.

Moreover, little art lovers haven’t been forgotten; cheerful workshops filled with wind chimes and fairytales specifically designed for children aged 20 months to 6 years, as well as guided meditation tours, are also on the calendar.
