A Free Breeze of Music in the Heart of Dolapdere: “Friday Evenings at Arter” Concert Series Begins!

Bringing together the warm August Istanbul evenings with the enchanting rhythm of contemporary art and live music, Arter swings its doors wide open to music lovers as part of the “Friday Evenings at Arter” program. At the museum, where all exhibitions and events can be visited free of charge every Friday evening throughout August, Arter’s Back Garden and terrace spaces are preparing to host two special concerts that will reveal the city’s multi-layered soundscape.

Feeding off the streets, lived experiences, and memory of the city, these free concerts invite audiences on an unforgettable journey through Istanbul’s both experimental and nostalgic soundscapes:

Dolapdere Noise Orchestra: “A Joyful Evening”

• Location: Route extending from Arter’s 4th Floor Terrace to the Back Garden

Inspired by the raw and layered rhythms of urban life, Dolapdere Noise Orchestra leads listeners into a brand-new sound adventure beyond conventional boundaries. Comprising Emrah Altınok, Emrah Karakurum, Gaye Günay, Güçlü Öztekin, Güneş Terkol, Mert Öztekin, Muaz Özden, and Sinan Logie, the ensemble will begin their fluid performance at 19:30 on Arter’s 4th-floor terrace, passing through various spaces of the building before completing their musical promenade in the Back Garden.

Tayfa Tatavla: “Remembering Old Tatavla”

• Location: Arter Back Garden

On the final Friday evening of August, the stage belongs to Tayfa Tatavla, a group keeping Istanbul’s multicultural musical heritage alive. Artistically directed by master accordionist Muammer Ketencoğlu, the ensemble features Katerina Batalogianni (vocals), Ali Baran Özcan (four-string bouzouki), and Gamze Yılmazel (percussion). In this special performance, the group will share both the iconic popular songs and the hidden melodies of the historic Tatavla (Kurtuluş) neighborhood and Istanbul with music enthusiasts.
