📍 Ronewa Art Projects, Berlin
📅 On view through October 30, 2025
South African artist Pierre le Riche (b. 1986, Gqeberha) uses textile and thread-based sculptures and installations to explore identity, belonging, and the boundaries of the body. My Body Is Not Your Temple, his powerful solo exhibition, centers his queer identity while interrogating norms of colonialism, race, gender, and sexuality.
Le Riche’s new works consist of vibrant, figurative woven panels that serve as both a personal declaration of identity and a visual response to the complex questions of belonging in the contemporary world. The exhibition invites viewers to witness texture, labor, and color as forms of resistance.
A graduate with high honors from the University of Cape Town, Le Riche has exhibited across South Africa, Europe, the USA, and Asia. His large-scale thread installation Rainbow Rooms has been featured in traveling exhibitions in the USA and China since 2018. Special projects for brands like Cartier and Daimler have further elevated his work’s visibility across diverse contexts.
Apartment No: 26 Note
Le Riche’s works treat threads not only as an aesthetic but also a political material. My Body Is Not Your Temple brings a new intensity to queer representation in Berlin’s contemporary art scene.
