Ireland’s biennial contemporary art event, EVA International, is unfolding across various venues in Limerick for its 41st edition. The biennial’s “Guest Programme,” curated in collaboration with Eszter Szakács, is titled It Takes a Village. Drawing inspiration from the proverb, the program centers on themes of collaboration, social justice, and historical repair.

Participants include artists such as Noor Abuarafeh, Reza Afisina, Marwa Arsanios, Ana Bravo-Pérez, Ruth Clinton & Niamh Moriarty, Naeem Mohaiemen, Eoghan Ryan, and Eimear Walshe, alongside collectives and projects shaped through local partnerships. Notable collaborations include OFF-Biennale Budapest and Ormston House, Limerick.

The biennial also features the EVA Platform Commissions, focusing on works that explore the concept of access. Standout artists in this section include Éireann and I (Joselle Ntumba and Beulah Ezeugo), Bridget O’Gorman, Colm Keady-Tabbal, and Lyónn Wolf.

The exhibitions extend beyond gallery spaces, weaving into the city’s everyday fabric through projects involving fishers, community networks, and various urban sites.
