A new Tame Impala album might be in the works, according to a recent update from Kevin Parker on Instagram.
Just weeks after he introduced a new Tame Impala track during a surprise DJ set in Barcelona, Parker shared a series of photos showcasing his life — including moments in the studio, playing DJ gigs, and a sweet moment with his wife, Sophie Lawrence, who is expecting their second child. The caption simply read, “Been Busy.”
The final photo in the post featured a recording progress chart, indicating that several tracks are marked as ‘done.’
While there’s been no official announcement regarding a new album, fans and peers expressed excitement about both the prospect of fresh music and Parker’s expanding family. Celebrities like Dua Lipa, SZA, Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips, A$AP Rocky, The Marías, and Zane Lowe were among those offering their congratulations.
Parker’s last Tame Impala release was the 2020 album The Slow Rush, followed by an EP of B-sides and remixes in 2022. Earlier this year, he collaborated with Thundercat on the single “No More Lies” and has also lent his talents to tracks by Diana Ross, Gorillaz, and Justice. Parker even won his first Grammy for his collaboration with Justice on “Neverender,” and he’s scheduled to open for their Australian tour later this year.
Additionally, he has collaborated closely with Dua Lipa on her 2024 album Radical Optimism, recording some tracks at his home studio in Los Angeles and co-producing the album.
After performing at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound last month, Parker surprised fans again with a DJ set at Nitsa Club the following night. “Do you guys want to hear a new song? You’re going to be the first ones to hear it,” he told the crowd before debuting the yet-unnamed track.
The excitement for what’s next from Tame Impala continues to build!
