Kornfeld Galerie Berlin kicks off the summer season with a joint exhibition by Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze and Chinese artist Shunxiang Hu. Titled Under Shadows, the exhibition is on view from June 14 to August 23, 2025, at the gallery’s Fasanenstrasse location.
Shaped by the artists’ personal histories and political contexts, the exhibition treats the concept of “shadow” not merely as the absence of light but as a layer of meaning. Kvesitadze’s sculptures and paintings focus on themes of memory, resilience, and intimacy through the fragmented female body, while Hu’s delicate and emotive portraits make visible the fluid nature of identity.
The artists met in Berlin in late 2024, sharing a living and creative space. From this collaboration, Under Shadows emerges not only as a dialogue between two artists but also as a conversation across cultures, generations, and expressive languages.
Under Shadows invites viewers into the realm of shadows, both physically and emotionally, probing the delicate line between what is visible and what is felt. It questions the meanings of remembering, concealing, and becoming visible again.
