In the relentless hustle of life, endless notifications, and the chaos of city life, sometimes the only thing we need is to step away from everything and take a deep breath. Blending precisely this vital pause with the healing and thought-provoking power of art, the “Nefes Vol. 8” (Breath Vol. 8) exhibition has been offering its audience that much-sought-after “moment of breath” since July 10. Open for visits until September 26, 2026, this special group selection promises a visual experience that lasts briefly yet echoes in our minds for a very long time, bringing together different disciplines, techniques, and themes under the same roof.
Every step you take in the exhibition space, every pause where you take a deep breath, shows you a completely different side of life and human nature. While some of the artists in the selection turn their camera or brush directly toward the social, holding up a mirror to the realities we must face, others descend into a much more personal realm, into the dark and light corridors of behavioral psychology. Some artists completely shed figurative boundaries, mapping out their internal worlds through the limitless possibilities of abstract expression. Fed by diverse disciplines, materials, and forms of expression, the greatest achievement of this exhibition is its ability to create a shared flow where so many distinct voices and stories do not suffocate one another in the space, but rather nourish each other while maintaining their own unique rhythms.
Wandering among the works, with every new breath you encounter a different realm of expression, a brand-new universe of emotion and thought. Sometimes you get lost in a riot of color, and sometimes you turn inward before a minimalist form. As you tour the exhibition and step outside, that feeling of lightness and realization remaining with you is perhaps summarized in its simplest, most beautiful form by those immortal lines of Turkish literature’s gentle pen, Ziya Osman Saba:
“Ah, all my loved ones, everything, everyone…
I understand, each one sacred beyond compare,
Every breath I take and give.”
If you, too, as summer draws to a close, wish to take refuge in art, rest your soul, and literally “take a deep breath,” you should definitely visit this polyphonic and mind-opening exhibition, open until September 26.
