For the young generation growing up amidst digital image networks, identity has ceased to be a fixed and completed structure, turning instead into a constantly transforming, shedding, fluid process. Making a name for herself in the international art world through Whitney Biennial and MoMA PS1 exhibitions, young Yale-educated artist Taína H. Cruz invites us into the middle of these fluid scenes of existence with her second solo exhibition, “Pixie Theatre,” at the Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler gallery in Berlin. On view between September 10 and November 7, 2026, the selection brings together painting, sculpture, installation, and video works in a single immersive atmosphere.
In spaces constructed by Cruz, human figures, objects, and animals stage acts of transformation and “becoming” within architecturally tension-filled spaces. Nourished by African American and Caribbean traditions, the artist confronts this deep-rooted folkloric heritage with today’s digital screen culture. Felt in works such as Breathing comes first and Pollen, this aesthetic creates a multi-layered theatrical sense where fairytale narratives intersect with contemporary visual systems and where identity is reconstructed time and again.
Accessible with extended visiting hours throughout Berlin Art Week following its opening on the evening of Wednesday, September 9, the exhibition blends traditional mythology with the visual language of the digital age in a captivating rhythm. Rising in the halls of Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler, Pixie Theatre stands as one of the autumn season’s most exciting stops for those wishing to explore the new boundaries of identity and visibility through the eyes of a fresh mind shaping the future of contemporary art.
