Neighbor, would you like me to read the news to you?

Nick Frost has expressed his commitment to safeguarding the new generation of actors stepping into the roles of the beloved characters in the ‘Harry Potter’ universe. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Frost, who will portray Hagrid in HBO’s upcoming adaptation, elaborated on his protective instincts toward the core cast, which includes Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

These young actors triumphed amidst a remarkable pool of over 30,000 applicants in last year’s open casting call. McLaughlin is also set to star in the comedy series Grow alongside Frost later this year, while Stanton previously played Matilda in Matilda: The Musical on stage in London. For Stout, this role marks a significant milestone as it’s his first major project.

Speaking about his role and his relationship with the young actors, Frost shared, “I’m a dad myself, so I am going to be very protective of the children. That protective nature is one of Hagrid’s defining traits, and I honestly can’t wait to embody that.”

Frost also shared his enthusiasm for the series, mentioning his excitement about seeing the sets and props like Hagrid’s beard and the Sorting Hat. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with director Mark Mylod and to delve into Francesca’s script, emphasizing how thrilled he is to retell Hagrid’s story.

Joining Frost and the principal trio are notable actors such as John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Luke Thallon as Professor Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as caretaker Argus Filch.

The ambitious new series aims to adapt J.K. Rowling’s seven books over a decade, with each season dedicated to one book. Filming for the first installment is set to begin this summer.

However, the project has faced scrutiny due to Rowling’s controversial views, which have sparked backlash in the past. Many original film stars, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, have publicly disagreed with her stance, further complicating the show’s reception.
