The annual ING Discerning Eye exhibition returns to the Mall Galleries this November, featuring its most ambitious showcase yet. With over 730 small-scale works by 529 artists—each piece for sale—this event demonstrates that bold creativity can thrive within compact frames.

Each artwork measures under 50 cm, collectively highlighting the diverse range of British artistic talent, from exciting newcomers to established figures. The exhibition runs from 14 to 23 November 2025, with online access to all pieces until 1 January 2026.

A staple of London’s art scene since 1990, the ING Discerning Eye has enjoyed support from ING for the past 27 years. This year’s exhibition is curated by a team of six prominent figures in the creative community, including artist Curtis Holder and sculptor Polly Morgan, showcasing the vibrant landscape of contemporary British art.

Selections were made independently by each curator, ensuring only works that resonated with them are included. “We were all amazed by the volume and quality of submissions,” says curator Dr. Chris Stephens. “The skill on display is truly remarkable,” adds Polly Morgan.

Art That Fits Modern Life at Mall Galleries, London

Compact artworks blend seamlessly into urban living. These pieces are the perfect fit for various settings, from hallway galleries to quiet evenings at the kitchen table.

With an array of original pieces—paintings, sculptures, limited-edition prints, and photographs—prices cater to all buyers, whether you’re a novice or a seasoned collector. “I believe this exhibition will be an exhilarating experience,” emphasizes Holder.

The ING Discerning Eye is a true celebration of the role of art in our lives, illustrating its power to unite people.

Accessibility is central to the exhibition’s mission, aiming to democratize the art world by providing equal opportunities for both emerging and established artists. Over its 25-year history, the exhibition has featured over 12,500 works, supported around 4,000 artists, awarded £300,000 in prizes, and generated nearly £1.5 million in art sales.

This year, the exhibition will award £15,000 in prizes, including the £5,000 ING Purchase Prize—an impressive record for such an approachable and down-to-earth show.

ING’s Legacy of Support

The long-standing partnership between the ING bank and this exhibition, nurtured since 1999, has made it one of the UK’s longest-running collaborations in the corporate art sector. This ongoing support has helped not only sustain the exhibition but also foster the careers of many budding artists.

“This exhibition stands out for its focus on accessibility and providing a significant platform for emerging talent,” states Alexandra MacMahon, UK Country Manager at ING.

Selectors noted subtle shifts in this year’s submissions, including an increase in figurative portraiture and storytelling, reflecting a renewed focus on everyday experiences. The result is a show that not only showcases diversity but also resonates emotionally, mirroring how Britain sees itself through art in 2025.

Six Sections, Endless Narratives at the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition

Each curator creates a unique section of the exhibition, featuring everything from expressive drawings to striking photography. Together, they form a rich tapestry of British creativity.

While experiencing the art in person is irreplaceable, this year’s exhibition also offers a virtual experience until 1 January 2026, allowing visitors to explore and purchase works online at ingdeexhibition.org.
