A Fresh Take on ‘Night At The Museum’ Is on the Horizon

July 10, 20252 min read

A reboot of Night At The Museum is in the works, with the original director set to produce an all-new story.

This beloved franchise has entertained audiences for nearly two decades, beginning with its debut in 2006. The film featured Ben Stiller as a night security guard in a New York museum, where he discovers that the exhibits come to life after hours due to an ancient Egyptian artifact.

The series continued with the sequel Battle Of The Smithsonian in 2009, followed by Secret Of The Tomb in 2014, wrapping up the trilogy. These films have collectively earned over $1.3 billion at the box office.

Alongside Stiller, the cast included Ricky Gervais as the museum’s director and Robin Williams as the iconic exhibit of former President Theodore Roosevelt. Secret Of The Tomb was released just months after Williams’ passing and is dedicated to his memory.

According to Deadline, 20th Century Studios is preparing what they describe as a “reimagining” of the franchise, featuring a new storyline with a fresh cast of characters. Screenwriter Tripper Clancy, known for his work on the Netflix series I Am Not Okay With This, is currently penning the script. Shawn Levy, who directed the first three films, is also involved as a producer.

While details remain under wraps, this will mark the first entry in the franchise since the animated film Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again, released on Disney+ in 2022.

In addition to this project, Levy is working on a standalone Star Wars film titled Starfighter, which will star Ryan Gosling along with recently cast Mia Goth.

Meanwhile, Ben Stiller is busy reuniting with Robert De Niro and Ariana Grande for a sequel to another hit series, Meet The Parents 4.
