Production images have just been unveiled for the National Theatre’s hit show, Till the Stars Come Down. This highly anticipated West End adaptation, penned by the renowned playwright Beth Steel, is currently running at the Theatre Royal Haymarket until 27 September 2025. The production is a collaboration between Eleanor Lloyd Productions, Fiery Angel, Short Street Productions, and Access Entertainment. Audiences have the chance to immerse themselves in this ‘wedding of the year’ (***** The Guardian) with on-stage seating options available throughout the run, and tickets starting from just £20.

The cast of this ‘exceptional family drama’ (**** Daily Telegraph) features Dorothy Atkinson (from Ludwig, BBC; Saltburn, Warner Bros) as Aunty Carol, Lucy Black (Top Girls, National Theatre; The Durrells, ITV) as Hazel, Adrian Bower (Gangs of London, Sky; Teachers, BBC) as John, and Julian Kostov (The White Lotus, HBO; Shadow and Bone*, Netflix) as Marek. The production also includes Aisling Loftus, Sinéad Matthews, Ruby Thompson, Philip Whitchurch, and Alan Williams, among others.
Completing the ensemble are Tony Bell, Rachel Marwood, Lee Rufford, and Holly Sumpton in various understudy roles.
Ttill the Stars Come Down offers a passionate, poignant, and often hilarious depiction of a larger-than-life family. Written by Beth Steel, a former writer-in-residence at the National Theatre, this acclaimed work ‘sparkles with sharp wit’ (** Financial Times) and is ‘hilariously funny’ (*** WhatsOnStage). Steel has previously been recognized with the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright in 2014.
Directed by Bijan Sheibani, whose work has garnered multiple accolades, this production is ‘beautifully observed and brutally funny’ (*** Time Out). Sheibani’s previous works at the National Theatre include Barber Shop Chronicles and A Taste of Honey*.
Set during a scorching summer day, Till the Stars Come Down revolves around Sylvia and Marek’s wedding as their family gathers to welcome a newcomer. As the festivities unfold, old passions ignite, testing the very limits of love on what should be the happiest day.
The creative team includes set and costume designer Samal Blak; lighting designer Paule Constable; choreographer Aline David; sound designer Gareth Fry; and various other talented artists.
Originally commissioned by the National Theatre, the play had its world premiere on 31 January 2024 in the Dorfman Theatre, marking Steel’s debut work at the venue. Following a sold-out run, it was nominated for ‘Best New Play’ at the 2024 Olivier Awards.
