Film enthusiasts have expressed their shock over the wig Stormzy sports in his new Apple short film, Big Man, which recently premiered on YouTube.
In this 20-minute project, the renowned rapper not only stars but also serves as producer. The film follows Tenzman, a weary musician whose life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters two industrious kids. Together, they embark on a journey that reignites Tenzman’s sense of warmth, spontaneity, and optimism, ultimately guiding them toward a brighter future.
Launched in collaboration with Stormzy’s #Merky Films, the project was announced on June 12. In a press release, Stormzy remarked, “I hope you enjoy Big Man as much as we loved creating it. For me, it embodies the joy, spirit, and fearless energy of youth – that sense that life is a grand adventure and the world is your playground.”
Since its debut on June 18, the film has garnered over 5.5 million views. However, fans have been particularly fixated on the oversized wig worn by Stormzy.
“Where did Stormzy get that wig?” questioned one viewer on X (formerly Twitter), while another labeled it “completely unnecessary.”
One user directed their frustration at Apple, writing, “How much money does Apple have, but they can’t get Stormzy a decent wig?!”
Some took to a more humorous note, with one stating, “I had a nightmare that he was a werewolf trying to attack me and my friends. Honestly terrifying; I’ll never see him the same way again.” Another added, “Stormzy in a wig isn’t real. Stormzy in a wig can’t hurt you.”
Earlier in May, Stormzy released the single “Sorry Rach!”, in which he addressed criticism regarding a collaboration with McDonald’s, revealing, “I think I met my wife.”
