June 18, 20253 min read

Al Pacino has made history as the first movie star to hold an audience with the newly elected Pope Leo XIV.

The acclaimed actor is currently in Italy filming a movie about the Maserati brothers and met the Pope on Monday, June 16.

Producer Andrea Iervolino shared the news: “We are honored to announce that this morning, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV received a delegation from the film *Maserati: The Brothers*, which included Oscar-winning actor Al Pacino and myself.”

He added, “The meeting was a deeply inspiring exchange of spiritual and cultural values, focusing on core principles cherished by both the Catholic Church and our film: family, love, compassion, and the importance of contributing to the greater good.”

The statement went on: “These values, emphasized in Pope Leo XIV’s recent messages, resonate strongly with the story of the Maserati brothers, whose legacy is built on innovation, excellence, mutual respect, and solidarity.”

Local reports indicate that Pacino, who was raised in a Catholic household by his Italian parents in New York, arrived for his meeting with the Pope by private jet on June 15.

In other news regarding Pope Leo XIV, he is reportedly linked to a variety of famous figures, including Justin Bieber and Madonna, as revealed in a recent New York Times article.

This research uncovered that the Pope is connected to both celebrities through a mutual ancestor born six generations ago, linking him with notable names such as Angelina Jolie and Hillary Clinton.

The report states, “Through one Canadian ancestor, Louis Boucher de Grandpre, born in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, the Pope is related to numerous distant cousins, including Pierre and Justin Trudeau, Angelina Jolie, Hillary Clinton, Justin Bieber, Jack Kerouac, and Madonna.”

On another note, regarding Al Pacino, he recently discussed the original ending of *The Godfather Part 3* in his book *Sonny Boy*, revealing that it differed significantly from the final cut. He noted that his character was originally meant to be assassinated as the film concluded, bringing a powerful connection back to the first installment of the series.

“In the end, Michael would be shot on the church steps,” he explained. “He rolls down and comes to rest at the bottom. Kay, his ex-wife, rushes to him, asking, ‘Michael, are you dying?’ And he replies, ‘No,’ just before he dies. It was an incredible ending—a brilliant callback.”

Pacino further acknowledged that issues arose after actors Richard S. Castellano and Robert Duvall declined to reprise their roles, calling it a “big miss.”
