The midseason finale of Wednesday Season 2 concludes with shocking developments and a surprising cliffhanger—though those who pay attention will find some resolution.
Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, this Netflix series resumes with Wednesday Addams (played by Jenna Ortega) returning to Nevermore Academy for yet another supernatural adventure.
In addition to Ortega, the cast includes Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Joy Sunday, and Georgie Farmer. New faces this season include Billie Piper, Steve Buscemi, Evie Templeton, Thandiwe Newton, and Lady Gaga.
Netflix has divided the second season into two parts; the first half premiered on August 6, while the remaining episodes are set to drop on September 3, 2025.
What Happens at the End of Wednesday Season 2 Episode 4?
At Willow Hill, both Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) and Wednesday discover that “Lois” stands for Long-term Outcast Integration Study. This revelation uncovers the institute’s secretive practice of imprisoning and experimenting on outcasts.
Though initially suspected, it’s revealed that Dr. Fairburn (Thandiwe Newton) is not behind these sinister experiments; her assistant Judi (Heather Matarazzo) is the real antagonist. Judi, the daughter of Augustus Stonehearst, reveals her plans to give “normies” the abilities of outcasts.
Uncle Fester uses his powers to create a blackout, freeing the captured outcasts and allowing him and Wednesday to escape in the ensuing chaos.
Meanwhile, Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci), who unleashed the Hyde monster within Tyler (Hunter Doohan), attempts to save him. However, Tyler becomes the monster and seemingly kills her before vowing to hunt down Wednesday.
As the Hyde chases Wednesday attempting to flee Willow Hill, the episode closes with a nail-biting moment: Wednesday is pushed out of a window by the monster, and the scene zooms out to show her unconscious form on the ground.
“I’ve always wanted to confront death,” Wednesday’s narration reflects in the finale. “But in these moments, all I can hear are my mother’s words: Maybe I’ve made everything worse. Much worse.”
So, Is Wednesday Actually Dead?
For those wondering about Wednesday’s fate, a trailer for the second part of Season 2 confirms she is alive—though in a coma. While her time in this state is uncertain, the clip suggests she eventually awakens.
Is Anyone Killed in Season 2 Episode 4?
In the midseason finale, Slurp kills both Dr. Fairburn and Augustus Stonehearst. Though it seems Laurel Gates, also known as Marilyn Thornhill, is a victim of Tyler, Gough and Millar have hinted she might make a comeback.
Regarding her character’s future, Gough remarked, “Christina Ricci is an incredible talent and adds so much to the show. Never say never.” Millar added, “In this series, no one is truly gone. There’s always a way back.”
