Watch Simon Pegg Jam with Coldplay at Wembley Stadium

August 27, 20252 min read

Last night (August 26), Coldplay welcomed Simon Pegg onstage at London’s Wembley Stadium—check out their performance of ‘A Sky Full Of Stars’ below!

This marked the third show in Coldplay’s historic 10-night run at Wembley, where frontman Chris Martin and the band delivered an impressive 23-song setlist.

During the concert’s third act, Martin invited the actor, known for films like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, to join them on their 2014 single, produced by Avicii. Pegg contributed on the tambourine for this lively rendition.

After the performance, Pegg shared a snapshot of his tambourine on Instagram Stories, saying, “Rejoined the band.” He also posted a quick video from his perspective on stage at Wembley.

The actor is often regarded as an “honorary member” of Coldplay and has appeared with them before, including a guest spot on the same track at Wembley in 2022. The previous year, he introduced the group during a more intimate performance at Shepherd’s Bush Empire, reminiscing about watching them live for the first time 21 years ago during their early days supporting their debut album, ‘Parachutes.’

Tweets capturing the moment quickly circulated, showcasing Pegg on tambourine duty at the concert:

  • “Simon Pegg on tambourine duty tonight. #ColdplayWembley” — @Neilenore
  • “POV: You’re Simon Pegg playing tambourine with Coldplay at Wembley.” — @coldplayxtra
  • “simon pegg was playing at coldplay’s concert last night?? how cool 😭” — @KeptinOnZeBridg

Last summer, Pegg was seen enjoying Coldplay’s Glastonbury 2024 performance alongside Tom Cruise and Gillian Anderson. He also shared the stage with Coldplay back in 2009.

Coldplay will perform at Wembley Stadium again tonight (August 27) and has upcoming shows on August 30, 31, September 3, 4, 7, and 8. They recently played two concerts in Hull, following a cozy acoustic set by Martin at a Yorkshire pub.

For their UK shows this year, Coldplay is donating £1 from each ticket sold to support grassroots music venues.
