Spoon Returns with New Singles: ‘Chateau Blues’ and ‘Guess I’m Fallin In Love’

August 28, 20252 min read

Spoon is back with two surprise singles, ‘Chateau Blues’ and ‘Guess I’m Fallin In Love’. Take a listen to them below.

These tracks were recorded over the summer and mark the band’s first new music since their Grammy-nominated album, Lucifer On The Sofa. This marked Spoon’s tenth studio effort, described as their “purest rock’n’roll album to date,” and it was released in 2022, following 2017’s Hot Thoughts.

The new songs showcase their signature raw rock sound. ‘Chateau Blues’ offers a gritty, blues-infused experience with classic rock riffs and powerful vocals from frontman John Britt Daniel.

On the other hand, ‘Guess I’m Fallin In Love’ features a more intricate and engaging style, blending heartfelt vocals with minimalistic yet intentional melodies. Daniel croons, “Every morning’s the same old thing/ Guess I’m falling in love/ Every morning, you’re there again/ Looks like I’m falling in love,” in the song’s opening verse.

Listen to both tracks below:

Justin Meldal-Johnsen, who has worked with artists like Beck, Nine Inch Nails, and St. Vincent, produced both songs alongside Spoon. Discussing their inspiration, the band shared, “We started working on an album this year, and as we finished the first couple of songs, we felt they needed to be released right away. So, here they are—‘Chateau Blues’ and ‘Guess I’m Fallin In Love,’ each with its own distinct personality, born in the past few months in Austin, TX, and Providence, RI.”

The band also expressed their excitement, saying, “Tonight, we kick off our first tour in a while in Santa Ana, and tomorrow we begin a run with the Pixies, one of the great all-time bands that has always meant so much to us. It’s a thrill to get back on stage. See you out there!”
