Sabrina Carpenter Reveals New Album Cover Following Controversy

June 26, 20252 min read

In the wake of significant criticism surrounding her initial album cover, Sabrina Carpenter has unveiled an alternative cover for her upcoming album, Man’s Best Friend.

The singer’s seventh studio album is set to drop on August 29th, and so far, she has released a track titled “Manchild,” featuring upbeat synths and a catchy rhythm as she addresses her relationship with an immature partner.

Initially, the cover sparked outrage online, depicting Carpenter on her knees with a headless man tugging at her hair, which many interpreted as reducing the female image to that of a pet.

Critics argued that the imagery relied on outdated and sexist stereotypes. Glasgow Women’s Aid responded to the controversy on Facebook, stating: “Sabrina Carpenter’s new album cover isn’t edgy; it’s regressive. It reduces women to pets and promotes themes of violence and control. We’ve fought too hard for this.”

In her initial reaction, Carpenter remarked, “I can’t give a damn about it.” However, she later took to social media to announce a new cover that she playfully claimed was “approved by God.”

This move appears to be a light-hearted jab at the backlash, implying that she felt the need to atone before revealing the new design.

In a feature by Far Out titled ‘Is feminism being abandoned in music?’, Carpenter’s original artwork was scrutinized alongside other feminist artistic expressions, noting that conservative values can also contribute to perpetuating and complicating feminist issues in the music industry.

The new album Man’s Best Friend will be released on August 29th.
