Reneé Rapp recently teased her fans about an upcoming tour through a series of playful social media posts, drawing inspiration from the early 2000s tabloid scene.
The clever campaign references headlines reminiscent of Justin Timberlake’s 2001 drunk driving arrest, where a police officer reportedly mistook him for just another person on the street. Timberlake allegedly remarked, “This is going to ruin the tour,” to which the officer replied, “What tour?” Rapp creatively incorporated this soundbite into her visuals, showcasing herself in front of newspaper stands.
In her posts, Rapp used the caption: “This is going to ruin the tour.” Behind her, headlines read, “That’s a Rapp!” and claimed she was seen “getting MAD in an LA hotel.” Fans have since unearthed images from the faux tabloids, revealing one headline mentioning “Rapp’s travel plans this fall.”
A recent post hinted at exciting dates from September 23 to October 29, leading to speculation that these could be tour stops. The teaser comes on the heels of Rapp announcing her second album, Bite Me, set for release on August 1 via Interscope Records in the U.S. and Polydor in the U.K. You can pre-order it here.
Rapp has used a similar strategy in her album promotion, previously launching a website that encouraged fans to “sign NDAs” for sneak peeks. Celebrity posts, including those from Paris Hilton and Charlize Theron, have also built anticipation for her upcoming music.
Fans got a taste of this new era with the single “Leave Me Alone,” a catchy anthem that opens with, “I’m a real bad girl but a real good kisser/Leave me alone, bitch, I wanna have fun.”
In other news, Rapp recently made headlines for her comments on Tory Lanez’s prison stabbing, delivering a zesty quip suggesting, “Maybe we should be stabbing more.” Lanez, currently serving a ten-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, was reportedly attacked by a fellow inmate, sustaining serious injuries during the incident.
