Multi-platinum artist Passenger (Mike Rosenberg) has unveiled the first single and music video from his new concept album, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry The Musical, featuring Jack Wolfe. This exciting release coincides with the announcement that the acclaimed musical, for which Passenger composed the music and lyrics, will be transferring to London’s West End in 2026.
The single, “Song For The Countryside,” performed by Passenger and Jack Wolfe, beautifully encapsulates Harold Fry’s transformative journey. It reflects themes of awakening and new beginnings as Harold embarks on his unexpected pilgrimage, rediscovering the beauty of the world around him.
Based on Rachel Joyce’s best-selling novel and directed by Katy Rudd, the musical premiered to rave reviews and sold-out audiences at the Chichester Festival Theatre this past spring. The production featured Mark Addy as Harold, Jenna Russell as Maureen, and Jack Wolfe as The Balladeer, earning five-star ratings and enthusiastic standing ovations.
Passenger, renowned for his hit “Let Her Go,” shared his initial surprise at venturing into musical theatre: “I never imagined I’d write a musical. But after reading the book, I fell in love with it instantly… It’s truly been a labor of love.”
The show narrates the moving tale of Harold Fry, who, after receiving a letter from an old friend, decides to walk from South Devon to Berwick-upon-Tweed. His journey is driven by a desire to confront his past and perhaps keep someone alive, leading him to join a group of lost souls and profoundly change the lives of both Harold and his perplexed wife, Maureen.
