Sydney Minsky Sargeant of Working Men’s Club has unveiled another sneak peek of his upcoming solo debut album—check out ‘Long Roads’ below.
The highly anticipated album, titled ‘Lunga’, is set to drop on September 12 under the Domino label, and you can pre-order it here. Just last month, he released the album’s minimalist lead single, ‘I Don’t Wanna’.
Now, fans can enjoy another taste of the album with ‘Long Roads’, a reflective, slow-burning track featuring a repeating finger-picked guitar motif. Watch the music video, directed by Nick Griffiths, here:
Discussing the new track, Minsky Sargeant shared, “I don’t want to sound cliché, but creating this album helped me realize it’s perfectly fine to express love in a song. It’s an honest feeling that I’m proud to embrace. It’s also important to acknowledge my flaws; I’m not perfect. Every day, I strive to make sense of the world around me.”
According to a press release, ‘Lunga’ represents a beautiful departure from the music Sargeant has created with Working Men’s Club over the past seven years. Many of the songs were crafted over several years, some even dating back to his teenage years in Todmorden.
“I aim to wear my heart on my sleeve more with this album; these songs stem from a quest for meaning and understanding,” he explained. “I constantly try to reflect on myself and those I love, expressing thoughts and feelings that these songs helped me articulate.”
Reflecting on the album’s title, Sargeant stated, “‘Lunga’ signifies our shared humanity and serves as a gentle reminder that we’re all connected. In a world that feels increasingly divided, I hope this album resonates with listeners.”
Sargeant is also part of the supergroup Demise Of Love, alongside producer Daniel Avery and James Greenwood, aka Ghost Culture, who recently released their self-titled debut EP.
The most recent album from Working Men’s Club was ‘Fear Fear’, which followed their self-titled debut.
