Hayley Williams Stuns Fans with Surprise New Song Premiere on Nashville Radio

July 24, 20254 min read

Hayley Williams has unveiled new music on a Nashville radio station—check out fans’ reactions to her latest track below.

On July 23, WNXP Nashville revealed they would be debuting new music from the Paramore frontwoman, showcasing a CD featuring the titles ‘Mirtazapine’ and ‘Glum’.

Later that day, the station premiered Williams’ track ‘Mirtazapine’ for the first time. An official release date has not yet been announced, nor has Williams provided any updates on her social media. The song ‘Glum’ has also not yet been played.

It remains uncertain whether ‘Mirtazapine’ and ‘Glum’ are standalone singles or part of a larger project—possibly her third solo album.

Before the ‘Mirtazapine’ premiere, Williams posted a cryptic image of a bottle of Mirtazapine antidepressants on social media, which fans later realized was connected to her new song about the medication.

In ‘Mirtazapine’, Williams sings: “Here comes my genie in a screw cap bottle / To grant me temporary solace / I could never be without her / I had to write a song about her / Who am I without you now? / Mirtazapine / You make me eat, you make me sleep / Mirtazapine / You let me dream, you let me dream.”

Listeners are already praising this guitar-driven song. One fan declared ‘Mirtazapine’ “one of the best songs I’ve ever heard,” and many are excited that Hayley Williams is releasing solo material once again.

Check out snippets of ‘Mirtazapine’ below.

The debut of ‘Mirtazapine’ on WNXP highlights the radio station’s efforts to raise funds amidst over $1.1 billion in funding cuts to public media in the U.S., following President Donald Trump’s signing of a controversial bill into law.

Williams’ last solo album, ‘Flowers for Vases/Descansos’, was released in 2021. Our review praised the album’s softer, more introspective nature compared to her debut solo work. Williams has since shared solo material, including brand-new collaborations with Turnstile and Moses Sumney. Additionally, she is set to feature on David Byrne’s upcoming album, ‘Everybody Laughs’.
