Gorillaz has announced exciting plans for their upcoming shows in London, celebrating 25 years of music by performing their classic albums in full.
The virtual band shared details of four special performances at the Copper Box Arena, scheduled for late August and early September. With tickets soon to go on sale, fans can look forward to an impressive lineup for each concert.
The first show, set for August 29, will feature Gorillaz playing their debut album in its entirety, recreating the magic of their initial performances from 2001 at venues like the Scala in London and La Cigale in Paris.
On August 30, the band will perform their iconic Demon Days album in full. Previously, this 2005 record was only played in its entirety at the Manchester Opera House and the Apollo in Harlem, back in 2005 and 2006.
September 2 promises an immersive experience with Plastic Beach, which last saw a complete performance at the Roundhouse in London in 2010.
Details of the final concert on September 3 remain a surprise, with the band referring to it as a “mystery show.”
To celebrate their milestone, Gorillaz will also open the House of Kong, a venue that grants fans access to the band’s virtual headquarters and chronicles their journey since formation. Ticket holders for the House of Kong will enjoy priority access to the Copper Box Arena shows.
Earlier this year, frontman Damon Albarn hinted at a new album, sharing with Inrockuptibles: “I’m finishing a new Gorillaz album. One opera and one new Gorillaz album seems like enough for 2025! Unless someone accuses me of taking my foot off the gas!”
