Brad Pitt recently reminisced about a humorous incident where his eating habits caused quite a stir among the film crew.
In recent years, Pitt has developed a reputation for enjoying food on screen, with memorable moments such as snacking on Lay’s chips in Se7en, chomping on turkey legs in Troy, devouring hot dogs in Cutting Class, and even indulging in a rat in Interview With A Vampire.
During a recent chat with Jason and Travis Kelce on the New Heights podcast, he shared a particularly memorable experience where his love for food on set backfired.
While he enjoyed his ice cream sundae in Oceans Eleven, he admitted that one of his least favorite experiences involved consuming plate after plate of beans for a scene. He didn’t specify which film it was, but mentioned it was an earlier project shot in a small cafe with about 60 crew members present. The scene required him to eat a sizable portion of beans and bacon, representing a long-awaited meal for his character.
Deciding to go “method” for the scene, Pitt repeatedly finished his plate of food in an effort to nail the shot, which eventually took its toll on him.
“I just powered down this plate of beans,” he recalled. “Take two, do the same thing. Take three, I do the same thing. Take four, I do the same thing. Something hit me. I was stuck in this chair, and nature took its course.”
He initially thought he could discreetly pass gas but soon realized the commotion he had caused as the entire crew evacuated the cafe. “Suddenly, it felt like something diabolical had descended upon the room, and they all fled!” he laughed.
“Since that day, I’ve learned to pace myself,” he added.
Though he didn’t disclose the title of the film, it’s possible it was Johnny Suede, a 1991 project featuring a scene with his character eating baked beans.
Pitt’s appearance on the New Heights podcast coincides with the release of his latest film, F1, now showing in cinemas worldwide.
