Following a triumphant, sold-out premiere at Theatre503 in 2023, Alfie Webster’s poignant one-man play, lenny., is set to move to the Omnibus Theatre. Produced by Grey Castle Productions, this eagerly awaited performance opens on September 19th, with previews starting September 16th, and will run until October 4th, 2025.
Written and performed by Webster, and directed by Fringe First Award winner Sarah Stacey, lenny. delivers a darkly humorous and emotionally charged examination of identity, masculinity, and the universal quest for belonging. This work, developed through the Royal Court’s Introduction to Playwriting program, marks Webster’s significant debut as a playwright.
Acclaimed actor and supporter of the project, Aimee Lou Wood, expressed her enthusiasm for the show’s transfer, stating, “I’m absolutely thrilled that my dear friend Alfie Webster is bringing their heartfelt solo show to the Omnibus Theatre. It’s a beautifully crafted narrative that explores what it means to find your place in a world where our generation often feels like we are too much or too little, too big or too small, too young or too old. I can’t wait to see it, and I hope audiences feel as deeply connected to it as I do.”
The play introduces us to lenny., a character who is edging closer to thirty, still anticipating the real beginning of his life. Frustrated by merely observing the vibrant existence of his best friend Carly, lenny. decides it’s time to step into the spotlight. However, this newfound perspective quickly takes a darker turn, delving into the complexities of a “delayed” queer coming-of-age story and the urgent quest for authenticity.
Don’t miss the opportunity to experience this compelling new voice in British theatre!
