The winners of the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious film festivals in the Far East, have been announced. The Golden Goblet Awards revealed their recipients, and the Kyrgyz film Black Red Yellow, directed by Aktan Arym Kubat, won the Best Feature Film award in the main competition.
Starring Nargiza Mamatkulova, Mirlan Abdykalykov, and Aigul Busurmankulova, the film follows the story of Turdugul — one of the most prominent names in the ancient tradition of carpet weaving in the valleys of Kyrgyzstan — who has long practiced this art alone, until the arrival of Kadyr, a horse herder, changes the course of her life and craft.
