The highly anticipated first trailer for the Star Wars spinoff film, The Mandalorian And Grogu, has officially dropped—check it out below.
This film marks the big-screen debut of the popular Disney+ character, set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026. Pedro Pascal returns as the iconic bounty hunter Din Djarin, better known as The Mandalorian, alongside the beloved Grogu, affectionately known as Baby Yoda.
Production on the fourth season of the series was recently interrupted due to the Hollywood strikes in 2023. As a result, Lucasfilm has chosen to focus on a feature film within the Mandalorian franchise, making The Mandalorian And Grogu the first Star Wars film since 2019’s The Rise Of Skywalker.
In a thrilling twist, Sigourney Weaver joins the cast as Ward, a Colonel leading the New Republic’s Adelphi Rangers, who previously fought alongside the Rebel Alliance. Jeremy Allen White will also appear as Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba.

Jon Favreau, who created and served as showrunner for the Disney+ series, will direct the film. He co-wrote it with Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm’s chief creative officer.
The synopsis for The Mandalorian And Grogu reveals: “With the evil Empire defeated and warlords scattered across the galaxy, the New Republic enlists the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice, Grogu, to protect the future of what the Rebellion fought for.”
Favreau expressed his excitement, stating, “I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely thrilling.”
This film will kick off a series of new Star Wars releases, including a new trilogy in the works from X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg.
Additionally, the first look at Star Wars: Starfighter, featuring Ryan Gosling, was revealed last week. Set five years after The Rise Of Skywalker, it will be directed by Shawn Levy and is slated for release on May 28, 2027.
