College Launches Oasis Masterclass for Fans Before Reunion Tour

June 16, 20253 min read

As Oasis gears up for their blockbuster 2025 reunion tour, Glasgow Clyde College is bringing Britpop back to life with a free Oasis masterclass designed to introduce the Manchester legends to a new generation. Launched ahead of the band’s three Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium shows in August, the course traces Oasis’ journey from their gritty beginnings as The Rain to their global domination with hits like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” With 1.4 million tickets sold for their 17 UK dates, this class is fueling excitement for a cultural moment rivaling Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

Led by lecturers Amy Butler and Christopher Kennedy, the masterclass explores Oasis’ rise, from their 1991 debut gig at Glasgow’s King Tut’s to their record-breaking 1996 Knebworth concerts, where 2.5 million fans applied for tickets. The course highlights the band’s role in the 1990s Britpop wave, a movement that celebrated Britishness with catchy guitar anthems, as seen in rivals Blur and Pulp. Last year’s Taylor Swift masterclass at the college helped parents navigate their kids’ fandom; now, the Oasis class flips the script, preparing younger fans to rock out with their parents at Heaton Park or Wembley Stadium.

The Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, have long defined Oasis’ legacy, their sibling rivalry as infamous as their anthems. Formed in Manchester in 1991, Oasis skyrocketed with their 1994 debut Definitely Maybe, the fastest-selling British debut at the time, followed by 1995’s (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, a global phenomenon. Their music, rooted in The Beatles and The Stone Roses, resonated with working-class fans, inspiring bands like Arctic Monkeys and The Blossoms. The reunion tour, kicking off in Cardiff this July, is projected to boost the UK economy by £350 million, with fans spending on travel, hotels, and merchandise.

Glasgow’s masterclass taps into a broader Britpop revival, with Pulp’s 2025 arena tour and Oasis’ Definitely Maybe reclaiming the UK number one spot. Social media buzz, from TikTok tributes to 1990s fashion trends, shows young fans embracing the era’s hedonistic spirit. To join the free masterclass, fans can register online, ensuring they’re ready to sing “Champagne Supernova” under the stars. As Scotland prepares for Oasis’ return, this course proves the band’s legacy is, as their song says, “Live Forever.”
