Get ready to ask yourself: Do you know where your towel is? This November, the wonderfully bizarre universe of Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is coming to London with a brand new live show inspired by the beloved novels and Touchstone Pictures film. The production will take over Studios 2 and 3 at Riverside Studios from November 15, with casting details to be revealed soon.
Join familiar faces like Arthur Dent, Trillian, Fenchurch, Zaphod Beeblebrox, and Marvin the Paranoid Android as you journey through an outrageously improbable adventure across the galaxy.
This adaptation is brought to life by Arvind Ethan David, an acclaimed writer and producer and a protégé of Douglas Adams, known for works such as Lenny Henry’s Boy With Wings and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency on Netflix. The stunning visuals will be crafted by Emmy Award-winning stage designer Jason Ardizzone-West, whose credits include productions for Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa. Co-direction and choreography come from Lorin Latarro (The Producers, Mrs. Doubtfire), alongside Simon Evans (Staged, Inside No. 9 Stage/Fright), Georgia Clarke-Day (Monopoly Lifesized), and David Frias-Robles (Taskmaster: The Live Experience).
The live show is produced by Tony Award-winning Broadway and West End producer Tamar Climan and Prodigal Entertainment, known for Jagged Little Pill, with general management handled by Smart Entertainment.
Arvind Ethan David shared, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is one of the most influential tales ever told. It blends satire, comedy, sci-fi, and philosophy. Douglas Adams, my mentor, predicted today’s chaos, with social media and extinction-level threats. Our world-class team is excited to introduce this story to a new generation of hitchhikers.”
In true Marvin fashion, the Paranoid Android quipped, “A brain the size of a planet, and they’re bringing me out for theatrical fun. I can barely contain my indifference. And don’t even get me started on my dressing room conditions.”
Mark your calendars: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy live show opens in London this November.
