Stranger Things actor Caleb McLaughlin, known for his role as Lucas Sinclair, recently reflected on the conclusion of the beloved series.
During a press interview with ScreenRant to promote his new Audible Original drama, Sacrilege: Curse of the Mbirwi, McLaughlin opened up about his emotions regarding saying goodbye to Lucas. “I’ve already dealt with those emotions, so now it’s time for the fans to process all of this. I feel great. It’s been a blessing—can you believe it’s been almost 10 years?” he said.
On the final day of filming, McLaughlin admitted that he couldn’t hold back his tears. “Last year, I kept telling myself, ‘I’m not going to cry,’ but I ended up bawling my eyes out,” he recalled. “It’s been ten years filled with love, laughter, sadness, and peace. I poured all those feelings out. Honestly, I just feel blessed and grateful to have been part of something so special that has impacted so many people.”
He also shared his perspective on growing up alongside his character, Lucas: “I’ve been part of this project for so long. It’s been a dream of mine, but it’s also been a significant part of many people’s childhoods. The show has helped fans navigate their traumas and escape into a different world. That means a lot to me.”

In February 2022, creators Matt and Ross Duffer confirmed that the fifth season would be the series’ last. In a conversation with NME, Matt Duffer stated that the pacing in the final season would differ from earlier ones. “In the previous seasons, everything usually wraps up nicely. But in seasons four and five, they’re interlinked. Season five won’t have much downtime—things will escalate quickly,” he said. “You’ll be right in the heart of it, and it will feel very different.”
