Presented as part of Berlin Art Week 2025, this exhibition marks Yamila Miglioranza’s first solo show outside Spain, bringing her to Berlin. Titled Mit Haut und Haar (“with skin and hair,” meaning to give oneself entirely), the exhibition reflects the essence of the artist’s painting practice: a bodily, intuitive, and wholly committed process.
Miglioranza engages directly with the canvas, combining acrylic paint with water, her hands, and often her entire body. Layers of diluted, mixed, and shaped paint evoke organic human structures like skin, fiber, hair, or wood. Her palette—ranging from ochre tones to deep reds, pale whites to matte blues—roots her works in both nature and the body.
Drawing a poetic parallel between human skin and the earth, the artist explores both as marked by time, memory, and a dependence on water. For Miglioranza, painting is a meditative, sometimes sacrificial act. Working in a trance-like focus, she experiences each canvas as a fragile, unpredictable space akin to a psychological session.
Born in 1997 in Buenos Aires and now based in Barcelona, Miglioranza began her artistic journey with photography and film. After studying art direction, her sensitivity to space, atmosphere, and visual rhythm evolved into a personal language through painting. The emotional weight of her migration experience has made painting both an expressive medium and a mode of existence.
Making its Berlin debut, Mit Haut und Haar showcases Miglioranza’s paintings that unite skin, movement, water, and color in a single breath.
