Wireless Festival Review: Drake’s Bold Comeback After a Tough Career Chapter

July 16, 20251 min read

Each day of the Wireless Festival embraced a distinct musical theme, reflecting Drake’s eclectic catalogue and extensive career. While Friday showcased a sultry R&B lineup that resonated with fans of his Take Care era, Saturday (controversially titled “Drake & the Mandem”) took a sharp turn into hip-hop, showcasing some of the best in UK rap.

Emerging stars like Len, Chy Cartier, Fimiguerro, and YT energized the audience at the Old Spice stage, delivering high-energy performances to swathes of excited teens—many shirtless due to the sweltering 30-degree heat. Nemzzz kicked things off on the main stage, performing tracks like “Spinnin,” which samples Drake’s “Fancy,” and the Lil Yachty collab “It’s Us.”

Later, Lancey Foux brought his vibrant trap sound to the festival, captivating the crowd with hits like “Outtamymind!” and “Lancey or Lancey,” alongside deeper cuts such as “Cursed” and the unreleased “Daytona.” As the day progressed, the nostalgia flooded back with BBK’s set, celebrating their 20-year anniversary and delighting older fans with timeless grime classics like “That’s Not Me” and “Are You?”
