“Wednesday” May Extend to Seven Seasons with a Secret Spin-off in the Works

July 25, 20252 min read

The creators of Wednesday have revealed that the show could potentially run for seven seasons, alongside plans for a secret spin-off.

The series, which explores the life of the gothic teen from the Addams Family, has become a massive success for Netflix, quickly claiming the title of the platform’s biggest English-language series to date.

Season two is just around the corner, with its first part set to premiere on August 6, followed by part two on September 3. Jenna Ortega will reprise her role as Wednesday, and half of the upcoming episodes will be directed by Tim Burton.

Fans have already been treated to a glimpse of the new season with the release of the first two minutes of the season opener, titled “Here We Woe Again.”

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, both Ortega and Burton confirmed that a third season has already been commissioned. Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are also currently developing a spin-off series.

While Ortega and Burton were somewhat secretive about the show’s future beyond the third season—Burton humorously noted that they are not the best sources for such information—it’s suggested that Gough and Millar envision a long-term plan. Reports indicate that they aim to keep Wednesday’s story going throughout her seven-year tenure at Nevermore Academy.

Details about the spin-off remain tightly under wraps. Gough mentioned, “We’re definitely exploring ideas; there are plenty of other characters worth investigating.” Millar added, “There’s so much to delve into within the Addams Family universe.”
