Underbelly Raises Over £15,000 at the 7th Annual Big Brain Tumour Benefit

August 28, 20252 min read

Underbelly’s 7th Annual Big Brain Tumour Benefit has made a remarkable impact this year, raising an impressive £15,203 for The Brain Tumour Charity, the leading organization dedicated to brain tumor research. This standout comedy show, part of Underbelly’s 25th Anniversary celebrations, featured some of the biggest names in the comedy scene and sold out quickly.

Hosted by Ivo Graham, the night showcased an exceptional lineup, including well-known comedians like Michelle Wolf, Celya AB, Emmanuel Sonubi, and Abandoman, who made his only Fringe appearance for 2025. All proceeds from ticket sales and donations will directly support the charity, recognized globally as the largest dedicated funder of brain tumor research.

The benefit was initiated by Underbelly in 2017 after co-founder Ed Bartlam’s son, Alfie, sadly passed away at the age of seven from a rare type of brain cancer. Bartlam expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, “I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who participated and attended. I am incredibly proud that together we’ve raised over £15,000, which will go toward a specific research project aimed at developing new treatments for some of the most aggressive pediatric brain tumors.”

Bartlam also highlighted their ambitious goal of raising £1.5 million for this vital research initiative. With brain tumors being the leading cause of cancer-related fatalities in both children and adults under 40, funding for research remains critically inadequate. The funds generated by the Big Brain Tumour Benefit will play a crucial role in discovering new treatments and enhancing the lives of those impacted.
