Brandon Blackstock, the former husband and manager of Kelly Clarkson, has died at the age of 48. His family confirmed the news, stating that he passed away from cancer. “It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” they said. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years, and he died peacefully surrounded by family.”
They also expressed gratitude for the support received, asking for privacy during this difficult time.
Earlier on the day of his passing, Clarkson announced the postponement of her remaining ‘August Studio Session’ shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. She stated that she needed to be “fully present” for her family during this challenging period, especially for the sake of her children’s father.
“I sincerely apologize to everyone who purchased tickets, and I truly appreciate your kindness and understanding,” she wrote.
Blackstock and Clarkson were married from 2013 to 2022 and share two children, River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 9. After their divorce, Blackstock continued to manage Clarkson and previously managed Blake Shelton as well.
Their split was contentious, with Clarkson having described the aftermath as an “extraordinarily hard” period of depression. Her 2023 album ‘Chemistry’ delves into the emotional struggles she faced during that time.
In 2023, legal issues arose when a California court ruled that Blackstock had made improper deals on behalf of Clarkson that should have been managed by her agent team, resulting in him being ordered to pay her $2.6 million (£1.9 million).
Blackstock also had two children, Savannah and Seth, from a prior marriage, and became a grandfather in 2022 when Savannah welcomed a son, Lake.
